The smoking form accepts positive counts. Do not invent a cigarette; confirm a smoke-free day in a free-text journal entry.
A worked example
Worked example, using fictional data. Neither Tuesday nor Wednesday has a smoking entry. Tuesday was genuinely smoke-free, confirmed by an evening journal note. On Wednesday the phone was unavailable and consumption is unknown. Both days may look empty on a chart, but a manual review distinguishes one confirmed smoke-free day from one gap. Entering “1 cigarette” merely to fill the day would distort both consumption and cost. An absent bar does not establish that no smoking occurred.
What to do
- 01
At the end of a known day, add “no smoking today” to the journal.
- 02
Use the event date if entering it later.
- 03
Label incomplete information rather than confirming a zero.
- 04
Compare chart gaps with journal notes manually.
Common mistakes
- Entering one cigarette merely to save a day.
- Treating every empty day as a confirmed zero.
- Changing genuine records to create an unbroken series.
Prefer confirmation to an unbroken picture
Choose a short phrase you can recognise while reviewing the calendar, such as “smoke-free day confirmed” or “recording incomplete”. Set the correct date when writing the following day. Keep only actual positive cigarette counts in the smoking section. Do not alter earlier days to create an unbroken line or fill unknown periods with guesses. To calculate the proportion of smoke-free days, first establish the known days manually from your notes. This remains your own review: Vesometr does not automatically turn journal text into a verified streak, and it cannot verify that an entry is true.
How to check the result
- Confirmed smoke-free days have text notes.
- Unknown days are identified as unknown.
- No invented positive smoking entry was created.
- Proportions use a period with known coverage.
To prevent an empty day distorting the conclusion, check gaps in the smoking chart alongside your journal notes.
How this works in Vesometr
The smoking form does not save zero-count entries. Confirm smoke-free days in the free-text journal; there is no automatic smoke-free-day counter.
