You don't have to count every sip: decide ahead of time the categories that actually help answer the question.
A worked example
Worked example, using fictional observations. To review an evening routine, someone records “coffee, mug about 250 ml, 17:30” and “tea, same mug, 21:00”. These are two events with approximate volumes but unknown caffeine contents. A refill should be mentioned if relevant; vessel size alone does not include it. The result reconstructs sequence rather than an exact substance dose or adequate hydration. From the word “coffee”, the app cannot determine the recipe, strength or additions.
What to do
- 01
Write down the purpose of the observation.
- 02
Select water, caffeine, sweet or alcoholic drinks by relevance.
- 03
Please indicate the approximate volume and time.
- 04
Keep the categories the same throughout the entire period.
Common mistakes
- Expand the list until it is impossible to support.
- Confuse absence of entry with zero use.
- Use a diary instead of recommendations for fluid restriction.
Choose what you are observing first
Different questions need different records: drink order, approximate volume or information from a particular label. Do not combine these into one unexplained measure. If using packaging, copy the relevant units and identify the source; if estimating volume from a vessel, say it is approximate. Describe refills in text when they matter. Do not use the history to prescribe a personal water target or calculate an unknown caffeine dose. The app stores a description rather than analysing a drink. A useful format lets you answer the original question days later without guessing.
How to check the result
- The record identifies whether timing, volume or label data matter.
- Estimated volumes are labelled.
- Relevant refills are included.
- Unknown substance contents are not inferred from a drink name.
For event order, apply the same meal-timing convention to drinks as to food.
How this works in Vesometr
Record a drink as ordinary text in a food description or journal entry. There is no dedicated water tracker, automatic volume total or caffeine database.
Sources and fact checking
App features were checked against Vesometr 1.2.2. External sources explain general guidance, rather than validating individual medical conclusions.
- Vesometr 1.2.2: official APK — Identifies the release; food-entry fields were also checked against its source code.

Simple meal journal
Breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack with a description, date and time.
In case of eating disorders, severe dietary restrictions, allergic reactions or a therapeutic diet, it is better to coordinate the observation plan with a specialist.
